Selvaraghavan and Geetanjali will be formally engaged today!

Director Selvaraghavan and Geetanjali Raman will be formally engaged today, February 10, 2011. The director and Geetanjali, daughter of Advocate General PS Raman, are deeply in love and are planning to tie the nuptial knot with their parents’ wishes sometime in June this year.

The couple’s parents Mr. and Mrs. PS Raman and Mr. and Mrs. Kasturi Raja along with their family and friends will take part in the engagement ceremony that is scheduled at PS Raman’s residence in Chennai. The engagement will be a very private affair.

Arvind Swamy Divorce his wife Gayathri

Roja and Bombay  fame Aravind Swamy and his wife of 16 years, Gayathri Ramamurthy had parted a few months back.

Now their divorce is coming through without any acrimonious statements or mud slinging!

The couple has agreed to the exhaustive set of terms and conditions covering maintenance, custody of children and visiting rights.

The divorce is as per mutual consent and Aravind Swamy will pay a one-time settlement payment of Rs 75 lakhs and a monthly one-time payment of Rs 1 lakh towards maintenance.

It comes with a rider that it will be paid as long as Gayathri does not remarry, and there will be no enhancement of the amount under any circumstances.

The couple who have two children have now expressly agreed to leave the custody of the children with Aravind Swamy, who shall be responsible for their upbringingand education.

Gayathri will have custody rights every Saturday and she will be allowed to spend seven days with the children during their summer holidays.

Murali passes away

Popular hero Murali passed away early this morning following a massive heart attack. The actor complained of chest pain last night and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai where his end came. Murali made his Tamil debut with Poo Vilangu and went on to give several smash hits including Idhayam and Pudhu Vasantham.

His son Atharva entered the filmdom very recently with Baana Kaathadi and has been receiving rave reviews for his performance in the film.

Murali’s death is a great loss to the film industry. He is survived by his wife, daughter and two sons.

Karunas seeks protection!

Comedian turned hero Karunas of Ambasamudram Ambani fame visited the Police Commissioners office today to lodge a complaint.

The comedian it seems has been threatened by several pro-Sri Lanka Tamil groups as he is planning to go to Kandy in Srilanka with his family for a pilgrimage.

Later speaking to newsmen, Karunas said:"I am getting threatening calls and SMS’s from people owing allegiance to Naam Thamizar, asking me not to go to Sri Lanka. It is purely a personal visit as Kandy Kathirkamam Murugan is my Kula Deivam (family deity) and I had taken a vow that I will pray there. I have also some relatives in Sri Lanka, and I will be definitely calling on them.”

A new ACTOR’S TEMPLE!

Action King Arjun, a devotee of lord Anjaneyar, will build a temple for his favorite God in Chennai. A huge Anjaneyar statue, measuring about 23 feet, was made at the behest of Arjun. Since the actor wanted the statue to be made of a single stone, it took him nearly a year to find such a stone and another four years to have it sculpted.

The Anjaneyar, which is in a seated position, will be the tallest Anjaneyar statue in that position in the world. The idol will be transported to Chennai from Karnataka in a 160-wheeled truck.

Arjun says that he would build a temple for his lord and throw it open to the public.

Sarathkumar injured!

In a mishap on the sets of his latest Kannada film Sarathy, Sarathkumar suffered a hip fracture and was admitted to a private hospital immediately. A risky stunt scene was being filmed in Pondicherry when Sarath slipped and fell. The fall caused him excruciating pain and he was hospitalized, where the doctors diagnosed the fracture. He's being given medical attention and the shoots are momentarily stalled owing to this. The actor will be out of action for a month to recuperate.

Sarathy is directed by K S Selva Raj and stars Sarathkumar in double roles with Sneha playing his lead.

Comedian Goundamani admitted in ICU

Comedy actor Goundamani was a leading comedy actor in Tamil film industry. He was suffering from severe diabetics. For the last few days he was suffering from shoulder pain. At this point he was suffering from severe breathing problems.

Following this, he was admitted in the hospital. Doctors who reviewed his physical condition found out that he was suffering from a mild heart attack. He underwent full body check. After this the doctors decided to conduct a heart operation. Yesterday morning the operation took place at 7.30 a m.

The operation went up to 12 noon. He was brought out of the operation and he is being kept in the intensive care unit. The doctors stated that his operation was successful but he will be kept in the intensive care unit for few days and will be sent home after 15 days.
