I hope folks here know that the tax rebate check is an advance on your 2008 tax return. It really doesnt matter if we get 600/900/1200 because when we file return in 2008, IRS will deduct the money from your refund. No free lunch!
As far as I understand it, it is a credit for your 2008 tax which is already paid in 2008
and not in 2009. But different from exemptions on a W-4, you don't have to return
this credit if you don't qualify next year. It is a real tax credit. In 2001 there

IV will repel genuine people ....
I am not interested to be a donor and will contribute based on action plan as I did before and did contribute a good amount of money to IV - but what I hate to see is people like you - being a donor you think you got the right to insult non-donors ....
the way IV forums are being used, very soon I may run out of option but to disassociate myself with it... Its sad but that is the fact ...
I don't know why people get offended so easily in an open forum like this. Why cant we take it in a good spirit and move on. If people cant even take it as a joke how are we supposed to work together for a common cause. IV gave us a platform and if people who started IV were demanding action plans from everybody else, then we would have reached nowhere.

I think someone needs to find out about MI tax law and how they interpret residents in that? If they interprete it in similar fashion then MI guys dont have to pay MI income tax. At least this can be challenged in court. If state does not wants to give you guys a basic service then it does not have right to tax you either. Same goes for Auto registration in MI

It could be unfair according to your understanding but it is not Unjust according to law the startification of Eb into 1 2 & 3 is based on certain logic. Now with your own logic Eb1 is current to should we all feel unfair?
I would please request not to enter the argument about different categories being current and what is fair and not. There are other threads which are discussing the same.

Thanks for your suggestion. I am also planning to contact my university, would you mind sharing the letter(or template) which you got from Univeristy. Does it in a general format or did they mentioned any thing specifically applicable to you.
I don't mind sharing the letter, but let me get the positive news from USCIS. It's better to follow that format, once we know it's acceptable by USCIS. I will post the University letter, Evaluation and Attorney letter once my case is approved, so pray for me guys. :p
Regarding the letter format, the first 2 paragraphs are general admission guidelines, but the 3rd paragraph says I admitted directly to the second year of the 4 year Engineering degree and completed all the academic requirements for the Engineering degree.

I called FTD to make them aware of the large number of orders that have been placed for Emilio Gonzalez for July 10th. I have requested that a representative from FTD handle all these orders to make sure they are delivered. This is because a lot of people have used varying postcodes, phone numbers etc. They are getting back to me with a point of contact from the Special Accounts department who will handle all our orders to make sure they are delivered. Will keep you all posted.

Is this because of the lack of tech jobs here or because of the increased scrutiny by USCIS etc, I do not know. Looking at various IT markets, I think there are many IT jobs in the US.
So H1b filing is down simply because of the tactics by USCIS and the reluctance of employers to go thru all hassles of hiring an H1b. The US tech industry and US in general are the victims here.
The opposition to H1b and other EB visas will continue as long as the general US public see all immigration as the same (both illegal and legal). I feel, we need to work hard to correct this wrong public perception.
From what I know from friends who work for consulting firms, people are waiting to file end of September or early October so they have the ability to find jobs and provide client letters since its a requirement these days to apply for H1. I am guessing the cap will dramatically move end of Sep or early Oct.

I am EB3 India and I think the root cause of EB3 India backlog in too many applicants in EB3 India category. And the main reason for this is most of H1B visa holders are Indian. It is unfair that USCIS does not set a country limit on H1B but limits while granting GC. Now we can write as many letters or campaign about removing per country limit for GC, but I think no one is going to listen. Most of my Indian friends who got green cards/citizens do not care about our backlog/issues. Very soon our EB2 friends will be current and they will also stop caring for so called "broken immigration system". And media/american people/companies does not care about EB3 people's sufferings. But most of these people do read evey news regarding H1B. Hence I have a different idea of getting attention (please excuse me if this idea was talked previously).
- Do a campagain/Rally to impose a per country limit on H1B. We will demand only 7000 Indian H1B per year. At least the "lucky" future EB3 Indians will not face back log. I know lot of Future H1B applicants from India will not like it. But this is for their own good. They are better off not comming here and face immigration discrimination.
- I really want to see how companies get 65000 TALENTS from ROW. If the companies/govt push for no country limit on H1B, they have to justify why they need country limit while giving GC.
- If companies manages to get 65000 H1Bs from ROW, then the backlog will be on ROW.
- I hope this will gain media attention as the head lines in the news channel will say "Indian H1B techies are in the street to STOP more Indian H1Bs". And then we will tell our reasons.

Yep. we kinda lost hope on the GC process for a while and started to live life normally :). But we do follow the visa bulletins and processing times. Based on the latest bulletin, I started checking this thread.
BTW i was quite surprised to see our approval from TSC, as I understood TSC hasnt been giving out any approvals recently and was lagging behind NSC.
