Its very disappointing to hear that. Your case is an example how broken the system is when you try to open SR, contact Ombudsman etc. Could you post the answers you got from : Created 4 SRs, contacted 3 senators, 2 representatives, faxed letter to NSC director 3 times + 2 letters in mail, 2 times Ombudsman inquiry, Numerous phone calls to IO's, Infopass one time ?

I Have donated to IV in the past and my subscription has expired and found it now while looking at this thread.
But my access to donor forum was never working, i have emailed admin few times on this, but no replies.
So then what is the commitment from IV to help donors ? Also looking at the issues for lot of previous posters here it dosent seem to be an issue only for me. Another thing i have noticed in IV off late is everymonth i see only a max of 100 to 200 $ TOTAL donation for the month, even at the end of the month. Is that is what IV really get for one whole month, with we seeing so many "Donors" here?

What else do you expect on a site operated by a FAIR veteran ? If you didn't know, Dan Stein has been the director of FAIR for a long time. What is interesting though is that of late, there has been a visible dissenting opinion by H1-B posters.
A lot of the views expressed in this thread are those of people that support FAIR and numbersusa. Sad!

i called the office and asked about license renewal which is coming up next month, the lady over there told me that if you have valid michigan drivers license and social security number, we will renew it now but there is no certainity for renewal afterwards. She told me that temporary permit will not do, you need to have valid michigan license.
Hello, In some states, you can renew DL upto 180 days prior to the expiration and if you have an option to get it done now without any issue, then take care of it ASAP. I myself did renew my DL last time, well in advance.

I am EB3 India and I think the root cause of EB3 India backlog in too many applicants in EB3 India category. And the main reason for this is most of H1B visa holders are Indian. It is unfair that USCIS does not set a country limit on H1B but limits while granting GC. Now we can write as many letters or campaign about removing per country limit for GC, but I think no one is going to listen. Most of my Indian friends who got green cards/citizens do not care about our backlog/issues. Very soon our EB2 friends will be current and they will also stop caring for so called "broken immigration system". And media/american people/companies does not care about EB3 people's sufferings. But most of these people do read evey news regarding H1B. Hence I have a different idea of getting attention (please excuse me if this idea was talked previously).
- Do a campagain/Rally to impose a per country limit on H1B. We will demand only 7000 Indian H1B per year. At least the "lucky" future EB3 Indians will not face back log. I know lot of Future H1B applicants from India will not like it. But this is for their own good. They are better off not comming here and face immigration discrimination.
- I really want to see how companies get 65000 TALENTS from ROW. If the companies/govt push for no country limit on H1B, they have to justify why they need country limit while giving GC.
- If companies manages to get 65000 H1Bs from ROW, then the backlog will be on ROW.
- I hope this will gain media attention as the head lines in the news channel will say "Indian H1B techies are in the street to STOP more Indian H1Bs". And then we will tell our reasons.
I'm Surprised to see people supporting your idea. It is also disappointing to see the attitude of some EB3 members. Where were EB3 members when we are running Admin fixes campaign and Phone call campaign in the last 6 months. We used to get feedback that everyone was happy with EADs and do not care for greencards. How come suddenly all EB3 members care for greencards? We could only get 200 phone calls. We were unable to collect enough funds in the last 3 months to push our 3 bills hard enough. We had to ultimately scale down our lobbying efforts and that may have affected the success of these bills. So if you just want to have a campaign because EB2 dates have moved and you do not like it, it is not justified. Let us think beyond our own case if we have to plan something on a large scale basis as an IV campaign. You cannot run a campaign for items that only help you. If that was true, I guess EB3ROW should also protest now because they are being denied the spillover directly from EB2ROW?

I see a Fundamental Flaw in this. Here is the roughcut of my thoughts...
How can you say that company having more than 50% H1Bs is doing fraud. How about companies having 45%.
What if company has $9/hour or any minimum wage employee 50% and cut the pay for the rest of 50% H1B's.
By restricting the companies to do H1Bs you are taking away the freedom from H1B candidates to change jobs. This in turn will make the candidate bound to the company which gives good scope for armtwisting directly impacting the salaries and taxes. By keeping the fee low you give freedom to H1B's let them compete in the open market. Let the companies pay competitive salaries to the candidates. This will help the citizens because they are all on the same salary levels and will avoid unfair competition.
By taking away the freedom of legal immigrants and companies which hire them you are scaring them and making them spend less. This will have direct impact on consumer spending and thus the economy.
Please be reminded job creation is not static is is elastic. The more you encourage companies to hire, the more they pay, more taxes can be collected and more spending will happen.

I am still debating in my mind where I want to settle so I am very open to idea. Here's my take on your points:
1. Agree. With savings from US you can buy a house with 50% cash down at least.
2. Agree and Disagree. Security has nothing to do with the citizenship status. Crime rates are way lower in most US cities. This isn't about bad mouthing India. Its just the way it is. Stability ... very wide topic. If it is social stability it is obviously higher in India.
3. Agree, you have to accept the good and bad both
4. Disagree. Trust me it will be hard adjusting back. Two reasons:
a) Age: Adaptability goes down as you grow older
b) You get used to comforts. How easy would it be to settle in a village in India?
5. Agree, if you want to go back. You will need a transition plan.
6. Agree. Most parents are unhappy about children wanting to settle abroad.
7. Agree. The immigration policies are designed to keep ppl in limbo for longest possible time. That gives the corporations loyal working drones. Again you have to accept the good and bad of a country. We all make an investment of several years hoping to reap benefits of living in the most prosperous country.
I see most guys having arguments in favour of living in US. I wanted to make a few following points:
1. Assuming you were not a careless spender, you have earned enough to buy a decent home in INDIA (all by cash, no loan, if you want it that way). So taking a few more bucks in loan for a better home is not bad.
2. There is security and stability in life. Because you are a citizen of that country.
3. Stop comparing US land to Indian land. Here there is no drain on resources such as land, water and electricity. Once you accept a country, you just dont accept its good, you also have to live with the bad it offers.
4. If you could adjust to US life after living for 21 years in India, why cant your child adjust to India after 7 years of life in US? I thought the way kids are brought up here makes them more tolerant to the change.
5. You have to plan transition. It may take 3-4 years to get decent returns on your investment and then reinvest that money in India. Remember you came here for business (money). American companies want to use you to make more money. Pay back in the same coin. If everyone were to send $100 a month (just like your 401K) back to India every month, it make a huge difference, to your own net worth as well as for the country.
6. Last but not the least, if you are denied the legal rights and the righful place in the society for which you worked so hard, why in the world let your self esteem drop to stay back here? INDIA is our country, country created by our fathers for us fighting the brits. I dont think many of our parents are really happy to see us settle down here after they made so many sacrifices in their lives to create and contribute INDIA.
7. I have lived in US for 7 years, I am convinced that US will always seek to contain the success of the immigrants. But they dont really want us to leave. Rules such as H1B extension after I-140 and not progressing the priority dates mean that they want you to stay here on their term as long as a breaking point is reached. There is definitely something wrong with the FOIA data.
The data from FOIA says "Your Expected Date of Adjudication is Oct, 2009" (with and without spillover) :D. But, the Oct 09 Visa Bulletin says my PD is nowhere near to being current.
The website data calculator says "Jan 2011" without spillover, which is more believable.

Don't take online MS as it is a waste of your money and is not recognised. I mean hiring mgrs can see that you did online and there won't be any value to it. My suggestion would be switch to F1 complete ur studies and get a job or else wait till ur GC, do full time MS/MBA and then go for a job.

On their requirements they state that we do not need an ATV when we are traveling to the country to which we are citizens of. I your case, since you had time you were able to apply. In my case they are traveling on 19th and there is no way to get it from here. So, I was thinking of applying from there for the coming back scenario.
