That is exactly the message I am trying to convey - instead of sending many faxes whose message may not be clear to anyone, let us do something that makes sense to the law makers. Also, understand why is it that the clause was deleted and act such that a fair policy can be implemented.
Opposing the immigration bill is not in our best interest -working with law makers to insert favorable clauses will go a long way in ensuring the end of retrogression. The last thing we want is all EB provisions getting dropped from Frist/Specter's bill - that will be disastrous in the long run for everyone. Who knows how long it will take to get a similar bill in Senate?
So, IV core group, please try and ensure that
1. EB provisions remain in both bills
2. Suitable amendments are added to enable fair distribution of GC towards oversubscribed countries, should there be no way to reinstate the soft quota clause.

I think this con no longer holds true for many folks on this forum, since there are many who are approaching 10 years on H1-B itself. SS has no requirement that you have GC/citizenship to reclaim your pension, just that you work 10 years.
CONS:
if you go back, you lose your SS benefit/pension. you need at least 10 work years to avail of it. the SS check would be a great pocket money when you retire and lived in your home country.
this is one of the conspiracy theory that they screw us with immigration so that we can't claim the SS benefit/pension. we are funding their retirement. so, don't let their xenophobic lazy ass enjoy your years of hardwork. fight the fight...at least up to 10 years.

The aug bulletin come into effect Aug 1 2008.
If the visa numbers are available they may issue GCs instead of EADs for the applications they process now and that already been submitted during the Jul 2007 fiasco. Its not like they have to wait until Aug 1st to start approvals of GC.

Hello-
I wish your company started the Work on PERM.It takes about 8-12 weeks for the Recruitment and Job Posting before they file for Labor. Take this issue to the Highest Priority to get to know what they did all this time.

There is no number that is 'enough'. We need as many people to come in as possible. It is not some kind of 'minimum' required to make it a success. The more the merrier. If we get 50000 people to attend the event, we will have HUGE exposure and may even be able to get a fix to ALL the issues within the next 2 months.

I self applied for my spouse and myself on Oct. 4th online. Both our cases were approved on Oct. 20th and we received the approved copies today by mail. If you discount Oct. 4th (as it was a Sunday), it took 16 days for approval and 10 days to receive the approved AP. On a side note, I had subscribed for text alerts for both our cases and got the approval notification as soon as the case status was updated :-).

my 485 received date is july 2nd 2007
but when i check the status the automated voice is sayaing that they received the application on 31st july 2007. Can someone please clarify this.and what are my chances of approval in august.

Well, your chances are pretty good (if your I 485 is in line and biometrics/fingerprinting etc is all done). However, eventually it depends on your "Grah dasha" and you should seriously consider doing "hom havan" and drive all the evil spirits out of your life. that would greatly improve your chances. If you are an Indian, you will understand what I said above; if not, it just means that it all depends on your LUCK...ARE YOU FEELING LUCKY??;)

There's nothing new in this but just FYI.
I Just spoke to MI AILA chapter and they said that the Secretary of State will not take away licenses from those already holding MI licenses. The SOS interpretation for renewals will come out shortly however, from what I have heard, it does not look good.
I highly urge everyone to contact all of these people and explain what this interpretation is going to do to the MI economy and to your clients and their families.

Read the postings before blurting out, all of the postings are FIRST HAND EXP, this particular thread was started with intention of getting self exp at POE. This has been very helpful to me and hopefully to others as well.
These kind of threads are silly seriosly. Most of the time what we hear is some friend's friend getting grilled. There has NEVER been a first hand expereince posted here.
Most of the IO's are friendly and they do let u without trouble. Yes there could be trouble if you are working for a different company and travel with a stamp for a different compnay, there could be trouble if u have been out for stauts or something other than that for the most part these are hassle free expereinces. Please do not create fear in people until its you who have experiecned that kind of treat ment.

We should write letters urging her to take actions to keep the jobs in Michigan . She should be convinced that the current DL rule will result in the state losing skilled professionals and jobs to other states.
We must lobby the Governor on this issue. She has expressed interest in both keeping jobs in Michigan and in the Innovation agenda. Repeatedly speaking about attracting IT jobs, Biosciences jobs, and alternative fuel technology etc. None of this is helpful to do that.
She can push the legislation suggested by Terri Lynn Land at the very least.
We must convince her that, targeting legal immigrants this way WILL cause them to leave the State even if not the Country. This will hurt Michigan.
If this rule stands as is, I for one will be moving out within a year. My job prospects are good and frankly this would be too much to take. I suspect I will not be the only one doing so. Michigan's competitiveness will decline substantially.
Michigan in my view can ill afford this. Michigan lost 30K people net last year. Housing is in the slump of slumps, coming in at the top for foreclosures and with price declines averaging the coastal markets, bearing in mind Michigan did not have the run up in home prices in the first place. This would be another nail in the coffin for Michigan's economy.
I do feel she (the governor) is likely to take heed to our concerns. She has been rather quiet during this entire period on this issue.
What do you guys think is the best way to get her attention about this issue?

Applied on 25 Aug, Sept 27 Approval Email and 1 Oct Physical Approval.
WE had a Issue in AP, As we were applying online, we ( me and my wife) dont have a middle initial and the applicaiton was not getting submitted without it.
So had to call in to raise a ticket and then send in a Explanation
Had Seen Couple of LUD's so think it was due to the ticket and out explanation snail mail.

Yesterday, I have recieved a mail from USCIS saying that "On November 2, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."
I have recieved my first CPO on Oct 21st. Not recieved the EAD card yet. I hope they will send me the card atleast this time.
I got a similar e-mail and the customer service rep said that the card is mailed when I got the 765 approval mail.

IV should hold a big fund raising party in DC (or a couple of major cities) inviting politician/government official/celebrity immigrant as key note speakers and involve the media for coverage. Maybe even get on the agenda of presidential candidates' campaign trail.
